We know starting somewhere new can feel daunting. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often — but our door (and inbox) is always open if you can't find what you're looking for.
Getting Started
Absolutely not — and we mean that. Move Ilkley is for every body and every starting point. Whether you haven't exercised in years, you're returning after having a baby, or you're recovering from an injury, our coaches will meet you exactly where you are and build from there.
You can book via our online timetable through WellnessLiving — just click "Book a Class" from the main page. If you'd prefer a more personal introduction, drop us a message on Instagram @moveilkley or email hello@moveilkley.co.uk and we'll point you in the right direction.
Yes, genuinely. Your first taster class is completely free and comes with no obligation to sign up. We want you to experience the studio, meet the coaches, and feel the vibe before you commit to anything. Just get in touch to arrange it.
Just wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a water bottle. Trainers are fine for most classes; for yoga or pilates you're welcome to go barefoot or bring grip socks. We have changing facilities on site. If you're unsure about anything beforehand, just ask.
Our Classes
We keep our classes small on purpose — typically no more than 8–10 people. This means you always get proper coaching, form checks, and attention rather than disappearing into a crowd.
Whatever you're comfortable moving in. Leggings and a top, joggers, whatever works for you. Trainers for strength and HIIT classes; bare feet or grip socks work best for yoga and pilates. There's no dress code here — comfort is the priority.
We'd love to support you through your pregnancy. Please let us know before booking so we can advise on which classes are most suitable and make any modifications needed to keep you and your baby safe. Our coaches have experience working with pre and postnatal clients.
You can manage your bookings directly through the WellnessLiving app or website. We ask that you give us at least 12 hours' notice for cancellations so the space can be offered to someone else. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a charge — full details are in your membership terms.
Mums & Babies
We generally recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 weeks old and you've had your postnatal check-up. If you've had a C-section or a more complex birth, we'd suggest waiting a little longer and getting your GP's sign-off first. When in doubt, just chat to us — we're happy to advise.
Bring whatever you'd normally take to a baby group — nappies, a change of clothes, and anything that keeps them settled. You can bring a bouncer, a mat, or use a carrier for class. Prams can be left in the entrance.
100%. This is a mums and babies class — babies are part of it. Everyone in the room is in the same boat. We build in time to feed, settle, and attend to your little one whenever needed. No one will bat an eyelid.
Yes — our coaches are experienced with postnatal recovery including C-section recovery. We'll take things carefully and at your pace, progressing only when your body is ready. Please let us know when you book so we can support you properly from the start.
Personal Training
With one-to-one PT, every session is built entirely around you — your goals, your schedule, your body. Your coach will design a programme specifically for you, track your progress, and adapt as you go. Group classes are brilliant for community and motivation; PT is where you get a truly personal roadmap.
Most clients see great results with 1–2 sessions per week, often combined with group classes. That said, your coach will recommend what makes sense for your goals, lifestyle, and budget. There's no pressure to commit to more than works for you.
Yes — nutritional guidance is included as part of your PT package. Our coaches can help you build sensible, sustainable habits around food to complement your training. We focus on real-life, practical advice — not restrictive diets or complicated meal plans.
Membership & Pricing
We offer a range of options from pay-as-you-go class passes through to monthly memberships that include unlimited group classes and PT sessions. Full details are on our Membership page.
Yes, life happens. If you're going on holiday, unwell, or need a break, just get in touch and we can arrange a pause. We ask for a little notice where possible. Drop us an email at hello@moveilkley.co.uk.
We occasionally run referral offers and seasonal promotions — the best way to hear about these first is to follow us on Instagram @moveilkley. If you have a specific situation (e.g. you're a new mum returning to fitness on a tight budget), just have a chat with us — we'll always try to find something that works.
The Studio
Yes — there are several car parks within a short walk of the studio in Ilkley town centre. We're also just a few minutes from the train station if you're coming by rail.
Yes, we have changing facilities and toilets on site. Most clients prefer to arrive ready to go, but you're very welcome to use them before or after your session.
The Lower Studio is on the ground floor and is step-free. The Upper Studio is on the first floor and is accessed via stairs. If you have any access requirements, please get in touch before booking and we'll do everything we can to accommodate you.
Absolutely. Prams and buggies are always welcome at the studio. There's space to park them safely in the entrance while you're in class. The Upper Studio is where our mums and babies classes take place — just let us know if you need any help getting settled.
